The Summer of 2026 had many record-breaking days for temperatures. Extreme heat was a headlining topic across newspapers all over Europe and the world. Here in Szczecin, records were also broken with the highest temperature of 36.4°C being recorded on July 30, 2026.
How did you experience the heat? Did you or any loved ones face specific challenges during these heat waves? How did you move through the city? Where and when did you find relief from the heat? What are your concerns for future heat waves?
This is a pilot workshop for the Global URBAN HEAT Media Lab, an initiative developed by Fundacja Pedestrian Space and led by Annika Lundkvist. Annika is an urban researcher and NGO founder based in Szczecin. Her work and approach explore issues of urban resilience and sustainable urbanism often with a community-engaged approach, centering the insights and experiences of residents as an important dimension of resilience-shaping. She is also a big fan of nature-rich cities and recently moved to Szczecin.
